Packers Bears
The historic rivalry peaked last season when teams have played three games that were not decided until the last minute, capped at Packers '21-14 victory in the NFC championship game at Soldier Field in January. But as close as the teams were on the dashboard, Packers seemed to be increasing, with the Bears struggling to keep up.
Bears (1-1) have the chance to abolish this theory when they play the defending Super Bowl champion Packers (2-0) on Sunday at Soldier Field. And 'their first meeting after that game in January, when Jay Cutler was the second time and most of the bears were still able to commit until undrafted Rookie safety Sam Shields, Caleb Hanie pass intercepted by 12-yard line Packers 'with 37 seconds remaining
This game and the series are characterized Bears-Packers in 2010. When it really mattered, it was the Packers, who did the work. The Bears were able to eliminate the Packers to the playoffs in the last game of the regular season, but not to land the final blow when Cutler, who was sacked four times in the last three games, was sacked six times by the Packers. Linebacker Erik Walden, who had been signed in the street eight weeks before, had three of them.
The Bears still feel the sting of this loss, but it's not like a hand was a rallying cry this week at Halas Hall.
Rodgers top of league
It was''long ago and we try to put it behind us and build off it at the same time,''linebacker Brian Urlacher said. ''We think we played well enough to win this game on defense. We did not play enough. It's frustrating. You get [Close] to your goal and you do not do it. I commend you for them. They got to do and we have not.
''We have a chance to catch it this weekend. It will not be about the size of the game, but it's a start in the right direction.''
Packers have won five of seven games against the Bears with Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback. And the two bears were gains to above normal for the quotient Fluke 20-17 overtime victory in 2008, Soldier Field, where the special-teams plays to set up touchdowns and the Bears and a field goal blocked by Alex Brown, has sent overtime and the game in Soldier Field last season, the 20-17 victory, Devin Hester returned a punt for a touchdown and the Packers have called 18 penalties, including one that wiped out the touchdown, and two are empty listening Cutler.
Bears won both games honestly. But like football to go, you win the punt return, blocked kicks and turnovers does not mean that the future success, even to win, because Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in football.
And 'one of the critical region, where Bears Packers Trump. Rodgers leads the defense could battle on Sunday, throwing a few incompletions than normal and perhaps even listening, but he is a great against everyone else.
We are making it look easy
Cutler is a Pro Bowl-caliber quarterback on his back with the wind, but a proposal is arbitrary in any other situation. Mike Martz offense Every quarterback has been the completion of the share of 62 percent or more of JT O'Sullivan, who has completed 58.2 percent in eight starts at San Francisco 49ers in 2008.
In 19 games in Martz offense is 56.8 percent Cutler and fall. In his last eight games, his 52.4 completion percentage. It is in a difficult situation with a line of fortune, offensive, and the receivers on average, but not all have to be in a comfort zone to put a team on his back. Rodgers was sacked 50 times in 2009 (against 34 last season) and his completion percentage, yards, touchdowns and passer rating went up. Then the total victory of Packers' - six to 11
Not all the Packers have it all. Coach Mike McCarthy. The defensive coordinator Dom Capers. A state of art natural grass at Lambeau Field. And most importantly, a player personnel department headed by Ted Thompson, Executive Director.
Fifteen of the '22 Packers Super Bowl starters and 31 of the 45 active players on their roster were drafted or signed as rookie free agents the team when Thompson came from the Seattle Seahawks in 2005. They wrote Bryan Bulag end of the first round in 2010, the right tackle to five games in his rookie season and won the Super Bowl. It may not be so easy.
